The Norooz Gala

During this meaningful evening of remembrance and resolve we honor those lost, stand with those still fighting, and hold fast to the belief that Iran's long winter will give way to a new day.

For many centuries, Iranians have marked the end of winter as the beginning of a New Year. Their celebration of this occasion, known as Norooz — literally “New Day” — has served to renew the bonds that unite the families and communities that make up the Iranian nation.

The Norooz Gala is the community's annual evening in Washington, D.C.: a gathering of Iranian-Americans and friends of a free Iran that celebrates the New Year, honors those who have given their lives for freedom, dignity and justice, and sustains the work of NUFDI and NUFDI Fund for the year ahead.
